Prior to entering DAAP as a freshman, I had not drawn a thing or taken an art class since 8th grade. My drawing class quickly became both my most difficult and most rewarding class. Art teaches you not just how to copy, but how to think and how to see. Those skills apply whether I am creating a new piece of art or interpreting the latest political situation in the Middle East. It's true - things are never as they seem.
